| Opening at the Gone Tomorrow Gallery on Saturday 3 October is Fanzine, an exhibition exploring themes in fine art print.
Featuring artists that the Gallery admires, the exhibition is a gallery equivalent of a fanzine journal. Each work is a like a page in a book, lovingly admired and offered to others to share in appreciation. Much like the homemade fanzines created by individuals (or fan clubs) of favourite pop stars or hobbies – Fanzine collates artists with disparate themes together in an appreciation of their work and of printed material. Exploring areas of print, the exhibition features a range of work, from the wall silkscreen printed graffiti styles of Dan Speight, the printed hooch bottles of Joseph Lewis, to printed products such as Doug Fishbone’s joke machine. Alongside these variations, print such as David Stewart’s woodblock print interpretations of discarded flyers from Hackney’s streets sit alongside the dreamily etched prints of Rachel Shannon, and the geometric prints of Jonas Ranson, highlighting the versatility of print. The Fanzine is the perfect way to share appreciation with like-minded people – and offer a glimpse into a person’s fanaticism. The Gone Tomorrow Gallery aims to share its love of print and the individual pieces of art that feature in the exhibition with everyone who comes to the exhibition. Gone Tomorrow Gallery |
